This just hasn't been a good week. As I type this, I'm sitting in Leslie's grandparent's house in Fayetteville, WV, one of my favorite places to go since Leslie and I started dating nearly 13 years ago. This, however, is a sad occasion, the passing of her grandmother after a short battle with cancer. I lost all my grandparents years ago, so I have adopted Leslie's grandparents as my own and am very thankful for the time I've been able to spend with them. I'm not going to go on about this subject for very long as I don't want this to turn into a sad or depressing post. Suffice it to say that Mrs. Grose was a wonderful woman who is now in a better place, and while she will be greatly missed, everyone has a lot of terrific memories of her to carry them past this time and into the future. Please keep Leslie and her family in your thoughts and prayers, especially Mr. Grose, her husband of 62 years.
Changing the subject, this is my second day in a row without running. I wanted to get something in this afternoon, but I just wasn't able to with everything that's been going on. In terms of the big picture, it might be best anyway. I was actually feeling a little run down earlier this week, plus I know my body has been through a lot physically and mentally over the past couple days, so sometimes it's best not to press. I'll get in a short run tomorrow, try for a decent day on Saturday, and then resume normal schedule with a long run on Sunday.
As far as my the effects of my losing battle with the manhole cover go, I'm doing well. My chin looks a lot better than I thought it would and my knees seem to be fine, although I do have a fairly large purple spot on the left one, another reason why it might be just as well I'm taking another day off. I don't feel anything walking around, but last night I could see a little swelling, so there's probably at least a little damage in there that might be best left un-aggravated for a little while longer.
Anyway, that's it for me. I'm currently on dog duty, trying to keep one crazy mutt and one nice and calm one under control while everyone else attends the visitation service. VA Tech and Clemson tip off in less than 45 min, so that's next on my agenda. Tonight is "blackout" night at Cassell Coliseum, so all the fans are supposed to wear black. I'll be looking for Andy in his Clemson orange shirt - ha, ha. Should be interesting.
