Obviously this wasn't the sort of week I was looking for, but I'm trying to remember that it's not one particular workout or one particular week that determines your fitness. Instead, it's month after month of good, solid, SMART training, and if I'm ever going to get that sort of consistency, every now and then I'm going to have to stop and go around a wall rather than try to run through it. I came across such a "wall" this week and decided to take a couple days off followed by an easy day in the hopes of getting myself back to where I can train as I want to and need to.

The good news is I feel better now. My energy level has improved and my quads don't feel quite as hammered as they did. The side of my right leg, which along with my chin took the brunt of the fall on the manhole cover, also feels better. The bad news is all of it just feels better. None of it really feels 100% yet. I plan on forging ahead for the time being while keeping an eye on everything and erring on the cautious side. I'm hoping if I really pay attention to all the little things this week (rest, diet, massage, etc.), I'll be able to get myself to 100% by the end of the week. I might also try to get in to see the chiropractor just to make sure some of my problems aren't coming from my body being out of alignment.

Anyway, that's about it for now. Hopefully I'll have much more to summarize next week. I've got my eye on a couple March/April races now, so I really need to get focused and start getting fit. Maybe the weather this week will help. After what we've been through over the last month or so, I'm really looking forward to getting out in 50 and 60 degree temps! Hope everyone has a good week and enjoys the "heat wave!"
