...all 18 miles and 4,582 feet of elevation change of it! It was the farthest I've gone since December 16, 2007, and I picked a lovely day to do it with the steady rain throughout that had my shoes soaked by four miles and heavy from there on. The good news is I felt really good from the start all the way through. I basically ran 7 min pace for the first 7 miles then proceeded to pick it up from there to finish with an overall average of 6:53. I took a gel at 13, and for one of the first times, 5-10 minutes later I actually got a noticeable boost from it. My last 3 miles went 6:36, 6:27, 6:33, and I felt like I could have continued at that pace for quite a while (although I might have been singing a different tune had I done another mile or two). It capped off a great week, and I'll get a summary up tomorrow. I'm definitely starting to notice some progress. I just have to stay healthy and keep it going. I'll need lots of these sorts of runs (and weeks) to get where I want to be.
