Wow! When you have to measure the snow with a yardstick rather than a ruler, it's TOO MUCH! We haven't had a big snow since 1996, and if it's another 13 years before we get the next big one, that'll be just fine with me. I spent the day doing tons (literally) of shoveling. While I guess it's a good core workout, I'd just as soon stick to pushups, crunches, and planks. I'm pretty sure my back and shoulders are gonna be REAL sore tomorrow, but they're gonna have to suck it up because I still have more shoveling to do.
This is one of those times when I'm just as glad I'm not running at the moment. I kind of like running in the snow, but I get aggravated when I can't do what I need/want to do, and getting out yesterday afternoon would have been impossible. The roads were in about as bad of a condition as I think I've ever seen them, and traffic was nuts. My normal 30 minute drive home took around 90, and from what I hear I did a lot better than most people. By this evening, things were finally beginning to clear up on the primary roads, although they've still got plenty of slick spots, but I'm sure the secondary roads are completely buried and may be that way for several more days. I'm actually hoping to resume running early next week, so hopefully things will be clear by then. In the meantime, it looks like I'll be continuing my snow removal workouts and building up that core strength.
If you want to see some various pics of the snowfall, you can check them out here. I got some pretty nice shots from the hill behind our house. We also got some good ones of Kaitlyn playing in what was really her first big snow. She had a blast, so much so that we had a hard time getting her back in the house. Needless to say, her daddy was not nearly as amused by it - ha, ha. How many days until spring???
