Three runs in the books this week, including a whole half hour last night- ha, and so far so good. I’ve had a few twinges in my knee here and there, but nothing constant and nothing significant. I’ve been disappointed too many times here lately to get excited yet, but I’m definitely starting to get at least a little optimistic that maybe this is it.
As most everyone knows, I’ve had a lot of injuries for quite a while now, but most of them have been 4-6 weeks and done. That seemed like a long time, but with this one going almost 4 months, I’m really anxious to put it behind me. The one positive I can look at is this time has been significant enough and frustrating enough to make me want to make sure it never happens again. Like I said, 4-6 weeks was aggravating, but it passed quickly enough that I forgot about it and moved on, resuming the same old same old and therefore getting the same results. No more.
Anyway, things definitely seem to be headed in the right direction, and hopefully that means I’ll be able to start March healthy and begin the long road to returning to fitness. I’ve obviously lost the track season I was hoping to have, but for the most part the majority of my goals for the year are still achievable.
That’s all for me. Hope everyone has a great weekend! We’ll be taking Kaitlyn to a Disney musical show at the Roanoke Civic Center, which should be fun simply because I know how excited she is going to be. Other than that, I’ll be keeping an eye on several conference indoor track meets, the USATF National Indoor Championships (on tv on Sunday), and Mr. Andrew Parkins looking for a big marathon PR in New Orleans on Sunday. Hoping for some fast times to add to my motivation.
