Another week with nothing to report. This was my first goose egg in a while, but unfortunately far from my first one of the year. As was the case last week, I’ll just use my weekly training summary post to update the injury. I made great progress towards the end of last week, and based on how things were going, I was pretty confident I would be pain free by the weekend and ready to resume running today. The progress slowed though, so here I am at the two week mark and still not ready to get back at it.
I’m at a point where I don’t have any pain at all walking around and even when I do short little “test jogs,” but if I put all my weight on the outside of my foot, I can still feel it, and that tells me I need to hold off on running. The good news is I’m having less and less pain each day when I roll my weight to the outside, so progress is still taking place. It’s just not as fast as I would like it to be.
So when will I feel up to taking a shot at running again? Your guess is as good as mine. I’m pretty sure it will be sometime this week. I just don’t know if it will be early in the week or towards the end. Regardless, I will have lost a good bit of what I gained in April, but shouldn’t be as far behind as I was when I started back in March after the stress fracture/knee combo. I just hope this is the last of these setbacks for a while. If not, I’m done.
