Missed putting up a recap last week due to the fact I was on vacation, so above is the last two weeks of training. I won’t go into details on the specifics of the workouts since that would wind up being a long post, but in general, training has been going fairly well. Last week was actually my highest mileage since CDR and included a couple decent faster efforts. The race the week before went fairly well too, especially all considered, and if I can catch up with all the post-vacation things I have to do, I’ll try to put up a recap sometime later in the week. I wound up winning, and had the course been accurate (it was way long), I would have run somewhere in the 16:50’s.

This week will be dedicated to getting back into a normal routine and catching up things both at work and around the house, so training will definitely be compromised at least a little while I do that. Hopefully I’ll still be able to put in a solid week, but I’m fully prepared to play things by ear while I see what all comes up. I’m sort of struggling motivation-wise right now anyway. I’ve basically decided not to run the OBX Marathon in November, which leaves me without a goal race for the fall. I just don’t feel ready to tackle a marathon, and to be honest, a bigger factor is my heart isn’t into racing that far right now.

Speaking of marathons, I’ll conclude by congratulating Andrew Parkins on another solid 26.2, a 2:44:25 finish in Baltimore on Saturday on what is a difficult course. Without time for a lengthy build-up, the goal was 2:45, and he not only beat it, but did so by running a very smart race with slightly negative splits. Next up will be a shot at a PR and maybe even a sub-2:40. I just hope I can keep up enough to be of at least a little assistance as a training partner!
