Two Weeks To Go

Not a lot going on right now but I thought I would at least check in with a mid-week update. Hard to believe that two weeks from today is Christmas. Doesn't seem like long ago at all that I was looking at a sign in the lobby at work that said 42 days to Christmas. At the time I thought that sounded like a long ways away and even thought it was silly to put it up on a sign so far in advance. Now here we are with just 14 days to go, and I want to be sure to really enjoy the remaining time with Leslie and Kaitlyn. Just last night we were watching Kaitlyn look at our Christmas tree. She's so funny pointing out all the different ornaments and what they are and you can just tell that the tree is nothing short of awesome in her eyes. I wonder what it must look like to her being so much bigger than she is. In any event, this is a really special time of year, so I hope to take it all in and keep the true meaning of the season in perspective as well.

On the running front, the week has gone fairly well so far. I'm still just getting out and logging the miles every day, so nothing to report in the way of actual workouts. I'm ahead of where I was last week and feeling decent overall. My hips are a little on the sore/tight side, something I know I've got to keep working on and get figured out, but for now all is well. I hope to throw in a progression run or tempo run before too much longer and then ease in to other workouts from there, but the main focus over the next several weeks will be on getting my legs fully under me and building a base to work off of later in the winter/spring.

For those interested (which probably amounts to nobody), I've got another article up at FitNoke.com. You can check it out here (scroll down a little). Be sure to give me a 5-star rating - ha, ha. This one actually applies to runners of all levels. We can all benefit from being just as diligent about recovery as we are about putting in the work, and that doubly applies to me.

Anyway, that's all I've got. I'm not looking forward to running in the rain tonight, but it is what it is and at least it's not ice. I'll leave you with this year's photo of Kaitlyn with Santa, or more accurately, Kaitlyn with Leslie and Santa. We teach our kids to be afraid of strangers and then wonder why they're not too keen on the idea of sitting on the lap of a big guy with a bushy beard and a bright red suit. Kaitlyn absolutely refused to sit on his lap, hence Leslie's appearance in the photo. I felt bad at the time, but I'm glad things turned out like they did. What a great photo to have years from now!
