Know When to Fold 'Em
Looks like I’m going to need a few more days to beat this thing. Aside from having to dodge a thunderstorm, last night’s run didn’t go too bad. I had some pain in my hip, but it actually wasn’t quite as bad as the night before and got better the further I ran, so I was hopeful that I was on my way out of the woods. However, today I’ve got some pain just walking around, so I won’t attempt to run this afternoon and probably not for several more days. I’m not sure how long it will take, but when I start back again I want to be pretty much, if not completely, pain free. When you’re coming back from an injury, sometimes you can battle through some initial pain and running actually seems to help push the healing process over the top, while at other times you just have to wait until everything has completely settled down before you can make a go of it. If it’s bursitis like Dr. Rich suspected, I’m probably just going to have to wait until the inflammation completely subsides then hope that the new exercises keep it from flaring back up. Whatever it is, running seems to aggravate it, so there's no sense in beating my head against a wall by fighting a futile battle. Anyway, that’s the story. I’m not happy about it, but it is what it is.
