Well, at least I can put up a daily outline this week, although there are more zeros in it than any other number. Basically I ran the first three days of the week before shutting it down for the remainder after determining that it was aggravating my hip. I wasn’t completely pain free when I started back, nor did I really expect to be, but I hoped that if there was just some scar tissue or tightness in there that it would gradually improve and work itself out as I eased back into things.

That seemed to be the case at first. On Monday, I didn’t notice much pain at all in my hip but my hamstring had a dull ache throughout. On Tuesday, I felt my hip a little, but the hamstring was much better. On Wednesday, my hamstring was 100% and my hip was about the same as the day before and maybe even a touch better. The four miles that evening must have pushed it over the edge though because Thursday morning it was significantly worse. It wasn’t to the point where I couldn’t have run at all, but I was feeling it just walking around and knew if I kept going I might wind up right back where I was, hence the decision to shut it down.

I decided to do some research on bursitis on Thursday, which led me to discovering several natural anti-inflammatories that are supposed to be really good, especially for bursitis. The main one is Turmeric, and I’ve been taking it in large quantities since Thursday afternoon. Some people swear it’s as good or better than ibuprofen without the stomach problems Vitamin-I (as I call it) can cause. I can’t say for sure if it’s making a difference, but I can say this. I felt much better on Friday and was able to do a significant amount of walking and even a little running on Saturday without any problems. It could just be the rest, but I’m definitely the best now that I’ve been since all this started, so maybe there’s something to the Turmeric. I’m definitely gonna keep taking it for a while longer because it certainly isn’t hurting anything and I need all the help I can get.

Anyway, that’s the latest. I plan on giving running another shot this afternoon with a similar plan to last week. I think I’ll be more pain free at the start this time, and hopefully I’ll be able to keep it going. We’ll see.
