TGIF

For many reasons, this has been a LONG week and I’m glad it’s finally about to come to an end. Of course my weekend is looking just as busy, if not busier, but that’s the way it goes. At least I won’t get bored. Anyway, this is just a quick update as to where I am running wise. I’ve been able to get out the door the past three days in a row, running 19, 26, and 31 minutes respectively. I’m not pain free, nor am I confident that I’m completely out of the woods yet, but things are definitely headed in the right direction. Last night I almost felt like my normal self, normal for me at least – ha, ha. I can still feel a little something in my hip/hamstring area, but it’s very manageable, and as long as it gets gradually better and not any worse, I’ll stay on it and see what happens. I talked to Howard yesterday, and he and are gonna set down soon and make a plan for the fall and beyond. I’ve got some ideas I want to run by him, and I’m sure he’ll have some good ideas and input as well on how we can develop a schedule that will allow me to maximize my fitness while staying healthy. Not wanting to feel like I was wasting his time due to my inability to stay healthy, I kind of left Howard out of the loop during my most recent block of training and that was a mistake, one of many things I’m gonna fix going forward.

That’s it for now. I’m looking forward to watching some live XC action in the morning in Salem at the annual FAB 5k. It’s a fairly fast course and the field looks like it could be pretty good, so should be interesting. I’ll get to catch up with Mike Cox for a while too as he’ll be bringing the team from Concord. Hopefully I’ll also get to catch some of the World Track and Field Championships coverage that starts this weekend. Maybe all that will get me nice and motivated as I start to train again. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
