Not Exactly How I Planned It

As promised, I'm gonna put up a couple hunting stories, so read on if you wish. This one took place this past Saturday, my first day of hunting. Just as I was heading out, I saw a nice buck (6-8 pointer) standing in the field. I was unable to get a shot off before he walked out of view, so I had to do a little stalking. I was able to get myself in position and thought I saw him coming towards me from my left. The grass was very high in the field and I didn't have the best viewpoint, so I tried to get a better look. When I did, it appeared the buck had turned and was now headed away from me. I knew I didn't have much time, so I took the best shot I had, and as soon as I pulled the trigger I saw him jump and run off. I honestly thought I'd missed. I waited a couple minutes then headed out into the field only to jump six does that I didn't even know were around. I then proceeded to basically step on the deer I shot at. I had dropped him in his tracks, a little spike buck. I had no idea there was another buck in the field, so I basically shot the wrong deer and let the nice buck get away. Oh well. Funny story and meat is meat.

Below is a pic of what I wound up with. Check out my vintage 1995 Shawsville 5k shirt. When I got that shirt I had no idea what they were thinking making one that color, but since then I'd hate to think how many times I've worn that thing hunting. It actually stays in the closet with my hunting clothes rather than in with all my regular t-shirts - lol.
