Christmas 2009

In spite of the insanity leading up to it, including a ridiculous amount of last minute shopping, Christmas turned out really well. This was Kaitlyn’s third Christmas, but really the first where she had a good grasp on what was going on. While she had an absolute blast, I think she still got a little overwhelmed by it all, and towards the end was pretty well worn out. At this point, we're four days removed from all the activities and I don't think she's back to normal yet. Still, seeing her reactions to some of her presents and hearing her exclaim “WOW!” time after time is something I’ll never forget. It truly was priceless.

As for the rest of us, I think we did alright in the gift department as well. I know I certainly did. I got some good training gear that I plan to put to good use in the upcoming year and also got an awesome 12 megapixel camera that is small enough to easily fit in my pocket and allow me to carry it around to various places where a full size camera might be a bit much. It’ll be great for spectating at races where I’m running around from spot to spot and will also be perfect for carrying with me when I go hunting so I can get some live shots of wild game (like bears). I got quite a few other goodies as well, including some WVU gear that will come in handy for the bowl game later this week.

One thing I did miss was getting to run around the various neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights and decorations. We did a little bit of driving around checking things out, but thanks to the weather not as much of that as I would have liked either. It was also a bit aggravating that all the church services got cancelled due to weather. We even missed the Christmas Eve service I always look forward to.

In any event, this Christmas season may not have been ideal, but we had a good time, and now I’m looking forward to the New Year. If you’d like to see a few pics we took, you can check them out here. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that you have a Happy New Year as well!
