Having nothing to recap is getting old, and hopefully this will be the last week that’s the case. I haven’t run a step in the last 11 days, but the plan is to give it a go tonight. I still get a twinge in my knee here and there when I do certain things, but for the most part (99% of the time) it seems ok and I’m hoping it will hold up to light running then go away altogether, especially if my theory as to why it started hurting in the first place is correct. That’s been the only good thing to come of this. The time off should have allowed my shin to heal completely and have that good to go from here on out.
At any rate, it’s time for yet another comeback attempt and hopefully this one will take and be the last time I have to start from scratch for a long, long time. I’ve had several people get in touch with me with encouragement and advice, and I appreciate that. This has definitely been frustrating, but I do feel like it’s been the straw that broke the camel’s back and I’m ready to make some changes that I’ve been needing (and talking about) for a long time. I definitely don’t want to be in this position again, and if this is what it took to finally push me over the edge, then in the long run I’ll look back on it as a good thing. Wish me luck!

Steve,
I think i'm in the same boat as you. Lots of things that I needed to look at and apply to my training; namely, warming up like I am running track again and ensuring I do a little cooldown of stretching and other exercises. As i've been training here and there before my surgery i've noticed it has made a difference. Once I get this bump off my heel and get back to training that will be a staple of workouts. I honestly think that time off makes everything ache where the body is so accustomed to being lubricated through running. Tear it up and stay healthy.
Thanks, Nick! I'll get there eventually. Hope things go well with you and you're back at it faster than expected and better than ever.
