What's Happnening Pnow and What's Pnext

After three days of excruciating pain in my ribs that was only getting worse (to the point where I was having a hard time breathing), I finally went to the doc on Friday to see what was going on. Before continuing, I guess I should admit that Leslie told me I should go on Tuesday, and I wish I had listened as it might have saved at least a day or two of pain and suffering. Ok, there, I did it. I admitted my wife was right and I was wrong – ha, ha. In any event, he confirmed that I had indeed developed another case of pleurisy……………along with pneumonia……………in both lungs. Nice!

Seriously, I just can’t catch a break. I mean really, pneumonia?!?! C’mon! At any rate, I’m now on antibiotics and hopefully on my way to being cured. The pain had pretty much gotten up to an 8 or 9 on a scale of 1 to 10 and it’s now down to about a 2, so things seem to be headed in the right direction. I figure I’ll be in pretty good shape by the end of the week. That’s if I don’t get hit by a bus or a meteorite or something of that nature between now and then. With my luck, I’m not ruling anything out.

In the meantime, I’ve started using the bone stimulator on my foot. I’m wearing it for 3 hours at a time every evening, as prescribed, and actually adding a little more than that with a morning session since the directions stated best results came with “at least” 3 hours of use per day. It’s a bit bulky, but I can use it pretty much anywhere, including work. I don’t feel anything while it’s on, nor am I supposed to. I just hope it’s working. My foot is feeling really good now, so maybe this will be the final thing I need to get back to running. As soon as I clear my illness, I plan on starting some walking to see how things go. I can’t produce any pain in my foot now, including doing one-legged calf raises, so I figure some walking is the next step to seeing where I’m at. I also go back to the doc in a little less than two weeks for new x-rays, which should also give me an indication of where things stand. Who knows? Maybe, just maybe, my luck will turn around.
