Walking, That's Spelled B-O-R-I-N-G

Man, walking is boring! When you’re accustomed to covering ground at 7 min/mile or faster, moving at less than half that pace just doesn’t cut it. However, for now, I’m thankful just to be doing something. After walking a mile and a half in 26 min on Sunday, I stepped it up to 2 miles in 36 min on Monday and 2.5 in just under 44 min last night, which is probably about as far as I’ll go until I think I’m ready to run again. My mom has actually joined me the past couple days, so I guess she’s my new training partner – ha, ha. Hope she’s ready to hammer here in a few more weeks!

Back to being serious, it’s so far so good with my foot. I have no pain whatsoever where the injury is/was and just a little soreness in my arch, which feels better as I go and seems to be getting better each day as well. I attribute that to simply not having gotten up on my toes in so long that it’s making my foot muscles sore, which is precisely why I’m walking before trying to run. My ankle and achilles seem to be getting better as well, so maybe I’m starting to work out some of the kinks. Especially after last night, I honestly think I could run a little now without any problems, but I still have no plans to try until after my doctor’s appointment on Friday and probably not even for a few days past that. I definitely need to ease back into things and I want to do it right this time, so being conservative is a big part of the plan.

Speaking of being conservative, or not, I thought it might be fun to post some of my old training weeks. Look for those to come. I won’t do a bunch of them, just some of the better and/or crazier ones. Just a way to keep this blog somewhat active and interesting until I get some actual training and other things to write about.

I'm glad you are writing about your injury and how you are dealing with it. Like it or not, ALL of us must deal with something like this so I appreciate your sharing it.
