Not much time to do a recap this week so I'll keep it short. This was a positive week for the most part and I'm starting to feel better overall and more like my normal self instead of a zombie. I'm still battling an issue with my left hamstring, but it seems to be headed in the right direction as well.

As for the specifics of the week, the only runs of significance were Wednesday's workout and Saturday's race. The Wednesday workout consisted of 1X2 miles followed by 2X1 mile, with most of it on the roads. I kept the effort under control, running 5:45-5:50 pace for everything except the last mile where I leaned on it a little more and went under 5:40. It was a decent workout considering the hot conditions. It was 90 degrees on the nose and I definitely was feeling it towards the end, particularly in the cooldown.

Saturday's race was the CAFE 5k in Roanoke, and it was a hilly one (see below). I grabbed the overall win, but I wasn't too pleased with my time, which was in the mid-17's, especially since the effort seemed harder than that. I felt a little better when I saw the elevation profile, however, and it was definitely a good workout.

These next two weeks are going to be very challenging for me due to work commitments. My goal is really just to keep it together the best I can and not lose any fitness from where I am currently (which isn't all that good to be honest). After that, I'll probably need a week to recover, then it will be time to get down to business. I've got about six weeks until I hit the Masters Class and some lofty goals to pursue once I do. It won't be easy, but it will be "fun!"

Training is looking good, Steve. I didn't know about your hammy. Hope that gets better for you!

A mid 17's 5k is great.. Especially since I can't think of a flat place in the Roanoke area :)

Keep up the hard work.
